Illegal Alien Sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on April12, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Richard H. Battey. Alberto Pedro Juarez-Nino, a/k/a Gordo, age 27, an illegal alien, was sentenced to 46 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Juarez-Nino was indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury on August 30, 2007. In January 2007, after a traffic stop by the S.D. Highway Patrol, it was discovered that Juarez-Nino was involved in preparing a load of cocaine for transport and distribution from Washington to an unknown location.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Ted L. McBride prosecuted the case.

Juarez-Nino was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
